The New Mary Ann Brittain Education Center is sited at the entrance of Prairie Ridge Ecostation, a diverse 38 acre greenspace within the City of Raleigh that has been transformed into a thriving Piedmont Prairie Habitat. This unique site attracts student groups, nature lovers, and researchers from all over to learn about the Piedmont Prairie, a savannah habitat which once spanned much of the Carolina Piedmont. The new Education Center will offer visitors a sense of arrival at the site, greeting them with a framed view of the Prairie. The roughly 2,100 sf, sustainably designed structure will also provide a place for visitor orientation, sustainability education, a new indoor classroom, offices for Prairie Ridge staff, and accessible restrooms that will be able to accommodate the ever increasing demand for this natural oasis.
