The Dennis A. Wicker Center was originally built in 1990, with limited renovations performed in the years since. The existing facility contains a large meeting room but lacks smaller break-out classrooms spaces. Furthermore, the original A/V systems, technology, lighting, and interior finishes are in need of updates.
The new construction scope involves the construction of a 10,000 square foot addition that connects to the existing building by an open covered plaza. The addition will include four break-out rooms, gallery & vendor spaces, and a teaching kitchen for the Culinary Arts Department.
The site placement of the addition will be adjacent to the new Health Sciences Building, which is also under design. The space between the buildings will consist of a connecting lawn that be anchored by a future clock tower. This outdoor space will be utilized for outdoor events for the civic center.
