This project involves the renovation of a former automobile dealership and is located on the primary thoroughfare into downtown Pittsboro, N.C. The design provides a modern, organic face lift to the existing brick and pre-engineered steel building. Facade screens, made of aluminum structural members and stainless steel tension cables, rhythmically surround the eastern elevation to provide a modern trellis system that allows native plants to embrace the building. These screens and plantings will create a softer visual appearance for the existing non-descript existing building.
The interior renovation is designed to accommodate a combination of office and tenant spaces. In addition, the design also reuses bays of the former auto-repair shop with a similar automobile related functions. A number of future sustainable design features will also be incorporated into the project, including the installation of solar panels and rainwater collection systems.
The building is the headquarters for anchor tenant Alpha Install LLC http://www.alphainstall.com and the project is slated to begin construction in the Spring of 2013.
